Terms of Service

By using The Codex (“the Service”), available at thecodex.thetarotbeyond.com, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

The Codex is a tarot learning and personal journaling tool. It provides card interpretations, spreads, a daily draw, a combination decoder and an archive of your own readings. It is intended for reflection, study and entertainment.

It is not advice. Tarot content in the Service is not medical, legal, financial, psychological or professional advice. Use your own judgement and consult a qualified professional for important decisions.

You may use parts of the Service as a guest. To sync your archive across devices you need an account. You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in method (email or Google account) secure. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

Anything you write or save — journal entries, notes, named readings — is your content. You retain ownership. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display that content solely to provide the Service to you.

You agree not to upload content that is unlawful, infringing, harassing, hateful, or contains malware. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

• Don’t attempt to break, probe, or overload the Service.
• Don’t scrape, resell or redistribute the card interpretations or other content.
• Don’t use the Service to harass or harm others.
• Don’t use automated means to create accounts or generate readings at scale.

Premium features are available via a paid subscription processed by Stripe. Prices, billing periods and what’s included are shown on the upgrade page at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and we don’t refund partial periods except where required by law.

The Service, including its design, written interpretations, illustrations and code, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms don’t transfer any of those rights to you.

We aim to keep the Service available but don’t guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may add, change, or remove features, and may perform maintenance that briefly affects access.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, accurate, or suitable for any particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that pose a security risk.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you also retain the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
